Jesus’ last command was to make disciples of all nations, and he promised his presence and his Spirit’s power for the task. These passages are for anyone who wants to share the gospel and help others follow him.

When to say them. Say them before a conversation about faith, and when you pray for someone who does not yet believe.

  1. Matthew 28:18–20 Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to Me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”
    An example of praying it: Lord Jesus, you have told me to go and make disciples. Bring to mind the person you want me to speak with this week, and give me the courage to do it. Help me teach others to obey everything you commanded. Thank you that you are with me always, to the end of the age.
  2. Acts 1:8 But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you, and you will be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
  3. Romans 1:16 I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, first to the Jew, then to the Greek.
  4. Romans 10:14–15 How then can they call on the One in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in the One of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone to preach? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!”
